Statement
Debuting Surplus Space's new garage screening room is San Francisco based artist Omer Gal with his 3 channel video Naked Cave. Naked Cave is a mobile 'living' object, which was built in 2011, it expands through time and adds to its characteristics with each new use. By rebuilding the cave in new locations and creating new art within it, it slowly gains meta qualities, like one steps into an old cave which has had a long history and feels a strong spiritual sensation, so the Naked Cave gains a spirit over time. The physical and metaphysical actions taken place such as video, sculpture, sound, performance or even just thoughts are all accumulated, documented and evaluated over time to exhibit its metamorphosis.
