Neighborhood Gallery Grant:
Spring of 2014, Surplus crowd-sourced $500 to create a grant for an individual interested in developing their own residentially- based exhibition project. We decided to match the $500 using our 2014/2015 Precipice Fund award to create an additional grant. Hap Gallery very generously matched the $500 funds, allowing for a third.

For now, we're a space without a home, or maybe a home without a place. Our programming is tuned to our form, privileging artistic and curatorial projects that sit between presence and dispersion. Conduit is currently curating Chin's Push, a webcam residency. conduit.link |

Rabbit Hole Gallery is a 10 month Neighborhood Gallery project running from September 2015 to June 2016. Our focus is on generating opportunities for emerging contemporary artists and curators to exhibit work in a non-traditional gallery setting where they can design installations that respond to the space. tetheredcord.tumblr.com |

The home was built in 1884, a year after Portland connected to the national railroad network, and three years before the first bridge (the Morrison) was built across the Willamette River. Located on SE 26th Avenue between Clinton and Division Streets, the structure was among the first developments in the city, and is witness to the most recent wave of building and construction in the neighborhood. As such, it is uniquely situated in both location and time to connect the art community and the neighborhood community, as an intervention on a neighborhood that is becoming unrecognizable. indivisiblepdx.tumblr.com |
